30 All New Days Challenge: Your Next 2022 Goal and How It Works

If you are looking for a New Year’s resolution, I have just the idea for you – 30 All New Days (#30AND). It’s fairly simple to do, and you can make it as small or as big as you want to.

All New Days means doing something new or different for however long you decide. This could be trying new restaurants, experimenting with new hobbies, learning new skills, really talking to someone new, or just taking care of yourself in different ways.

Start with 30 days. You can easily come up with 30 ideas of things to do for each day of this challenge. This being said, I did 234 consecutive days, so it can be as long as you want it to be! But start with 30 days. Figure out what you want to accomplish or who you want to become or what you want to learn – and just do it.

Don’t know if this is the right resolution for you? Read here: 5 Reasons You Should Try “All New Days”

Getting Started:

1. Pick your dates!

It is crucial that you have enough time to take this on. You don’t want to set yourself up for failure! Do you have a pretty free month coming up? Is there a month you will be on the go and want to make sure you find all the best new spots while you’re going? Are you wanting to accomplish a big goal and need to set aside time to make it happen?

Pick the dates that work for you and write it down!! This is going to be a major theme, so get ready. At least put it out into the universe somewhere that you will be starting this. It’s so important for you, or your friends, or your family to hold you accountable.

The only way I was able to go so long is because I had already told people my plan. I wanted to make it happen, but sometimes I needed that extra reminder that I can’t give up. People were following along with it too!

So, pick your dates. Make sure it’s something easy to remember. Start on the first day of the month if you can so you can easily track the number of days! Just make sure you plan it out where you can prioritize you.

2. Make your master list!

Next up – figure out your WHAT and your WHY. If your why is to accomplish a goal, the what might be to learn a new skill each day. Or, it might be to do some small action toward your goal each day. If your why is to get out the house, your what might be trying new places or finding new hobbies.

If your why is to meet new people or strengthen relationships, your what might be to have a meaningful conversation every day. And, if your why is to take better care of yourself, your what might be to implement a different form of self care every day!

After you figure that out – make your list!

Write down every possible thing you could do each day to reach your way. This could be a list of all the new restaurants or bars that just opened up in your town. It could be a list of hobbies, outdoor activities, or arts and crafts you have wanted to try. This could be a list of all the steps you need to take to accomplish your goal. It could be a list of books you want to read, podcasts you want to try, or movies you have wanted to watch.

There are so many options. It could just include a big bucket list of everything you want to do – it doesn’t matter! Make your list. This is what you will use as you start your days. You can plan it out as much or as little as you want.

But you want a big list, one that you can add to. This way you will never have to spend time trying to come up with something that day. You want to always have an option and be able to choose as you see fit for that day.

3. Prepare yourself with everything you might need!

Now, make sure you are prepared. This might be preparing for supplies you may need, finances that it may require, or planning for getting somewhere or connecting with someone. Do as much planning ahead of time in these areas to make it as seamless as possible.

This challenge isn’t easy. I’m not claiming it is at all. It requires dedication and pure will some days. BUT, if you are prepared, you make the harder days easier. You won’t have to worry about going out and finding that book you need or getting the ingredients you need.

If you choose something that includes going out and doing as much as possible, it can be a financial burden. I’m not trying to hide that, ever. I did mine for so long, I definitely had days where I had to be creative and come up with free new things to do. But, I was willing and ready to spend what I had to make the most of the All New Days I was doing.

If you know this is something you want to do, save up. Plan for the types of activities or places you want to go. Make sure you won’t be struggling. It is worth it to provide yourself with these experiences. But don’t put yourself in a bad position financially. There are other ways to make this happen that are free!!

Just always be prepared.

Doing the Thing:

1. Decide on your end goal.

I mentioned earlier that it’s important to know your WHY. What is your end goal? Always be reflecting. It’s how we grow. Reflect on what you want to accomplish, what you want to learn, or how you want to grow. What is your why?

Once you decide on this, it gives you a reason to get started and to keep going. Why do something that just wastes your time? Even if your goal is simply to have more fun and gain life experiences, that’s enough.

Use that to encourage you every day to get out there and try new places and explore the world around you. Use your why to get you moving, even on the days you just want to be comfortable.

Listen to your body. If it’s too much, rest. Don’t force it if you genuinely need a break or need to rest. But, don’t fall into the trap that comfort = self-care all the time. It’s easy to lay on the couch and do nothing. And we all need that sometimes, but your why should encourage you to push yourself for this short time to see what you are capable of.

2. Pick each day from the list and act.

Here’s where the list comes in handy. You already have a long list of options that you can try or do for the day! It takes the guesswork and the anxiety out of having to decide every day or be creative every day. The list can be added to whenever you’re feeling creative or imaginative. Trust me, I know sometimes our brains go blank.

So, each day pick an idea from your list. If something comes up – take it! The list isn’t the end all, be all. But, it’s where your ideas and your goals lie. So take advantage of it.

Pick an idea from the list and roll with it. Go do it, go learn it, go be it, and go experience it.

This step is really just here to say – actually do it. When you don’t want to, still get up and do it. Take action each day. Remember it’s only 30 days and the end goal is worth it. So act. Get out of your house and experience life. Or stop running around so much and spend 30 days reaching your dream business. Whatever it is, pick your idea from the list and act.

3. Document, document, document.

I know we live in a time where everything is posted on social media. And if you want to document your All New Days there, do it! Don’t be ashamed and don’t share for fear of judgment. But, I want to remind you that if anything, document for yourself. I personally documented all of it on social media. I knew Instagram was a place where I could post a picture for each day AND write about it.

There’s other options too: take a picture and create an album on your phone for each day. Keep a journal writing about each day and how it went or how you felt. Keep a collection of voice memos talking about each day. Make a calendar where you write what you actually ended up doing for each day.

You can even keep mementos from each place you visit if that’s what you’re doing. If it’s a physical project, just completing each step might be your documentation. You could also start a website and document your experience.

There are so many options, but it’s always good to look back and remember how it went and what you learned. My favorite way is photography, because pictures always bring me back to the moments. But you do what is best for you!

Let me know if you would want an All New Days photo and journal notebook!

Finishing Up:

1. Continue or conclude!

Once you’ve finished your 30 days or whatever initial length you chose, you have 2 options: continue or conclude. You might be having so much fun or learning so much that you just can’t stop. You might have pushed yourself to the limit and need a rest period.

Either way, take time to be proud of yourself. You’ve done something challenging. You’ve pushed yourself.

If you choose to continue, maybe switch up what you’re doing or try a new challenge for yourself. Maybe you need to continue because you just didn’t quite reach a goal you were hoping to accomplish. It doesn’t have to just be 30 days if you don’t want it to be!

If you choose to conclude your All New Days challenge, soak it up. This leads me to the next step: reflection.

2. Reflection!

What would be the point in doing something without actually being present in that moment? Without being present in the feeling? You would just be going through the motions without any purpose or path.

It doesn’t have to be some grand exercise of writing a monologue or creating a scrapbook. It can simply be sitting in that moment and looking back at all your pictures. You can just sit in the knowing that you did it. This could even be just being present each day you do something new.

You want to make sure you’re not just checking off a box to say you did it. Find your why. Find your purpose.

You don’t have to do a big reflection – but you absolutely CAN. If that’s how you find joy, go big. Celebrate yourself. Create a journal entry writing about how you feel as compared to how you felt before you started. Post about it! Don’t be afraid. Do a meditation. Whatever makes you feel happy and plants you in those feelings, do it.

3. Make it real life!

Remember, this is a mindset. It’s choosing to live every day with intention and purpose. Live with passion, discover, and explore. Make the world what you want it to be. Become a “yes” man.

This doesn’t just end because 30 days are up. What aspects of the challenge did you really resonate with? What do you want to incorporate into your everyday life? Are there other areas you can adapt this into your life?

Personally, I figured out that I want to do more new things and find ways to experience my city for free and save money for things that I’ve wanted to do. I never wanted that to end. I experienced so many things, but that meant I could see more and more things I still had left to do.

It is important to me to make the most of where I am at. While I love going to new places, it’s never too late to simply enjoy the places closest to home. I figured out that I need to say yes when I can – and I’ve learned that I need to rest every now and then so that I CAN say yes.

Make it real life – not a dream, not a distant future, but make All New Days part of your real life.
